Appirio has assembled a leadership team of “reformed” enterprise software executives with experience at Borland, SAP, webMethods, CollabNet, NetSuite, Oracle, Siebel and salesforce.com, among others:

 

Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors—Chris Barbin

Chris BarbinChris has been CEO of Appirio since its inception, guiding the technology-enabled services company to become one of the thought leaders in cloud computing. Chris brings extensive operations, consulting, professional and technical experience to Appirio, and has grown the company to more than 500 cloud experts across three continents. He has been named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist and has been recognized by the New York Times for his leadership philosophy.

Previously Chris served as CIO and SVP of business operations at Borland Software, where he pioneered the company’s move to an on-demand IT applications architecture. Before becoming Borland’s CIO, Chris also served as the company’s SVP of worldwide services, managing and growing the company’s global consulting, education, and technical support organizations (organic and acquisition growth) by 45 percent between 2004 and 2006.

Prior to this, Chris was SVP of global customer services at webMethods, where he managed a team delivering services to over 1,000 customers running mission–critical integration applications. Chris also served as managing director of W.W. Grainger’s Consulting Services division, an early pioneer in e–commerce. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and also studied at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England.

Chief Strategy Officer, Board of Directors—Narinder Singh

Narinder SinghAs Chief Strategy Officer at Appirio, Narinder is responsible for overseeing the company's strategy and marketing. He is also responsible for the creation and evolution of CloudSpokes, Appirio's innovative crowdsourcing community for cloud development. A co-founder of Appirio, Narinder brings more than 15 years of software and business experience and plays a key role in keeping Appirio at the forefront of cloud computing.

Prior to Appirio, Narinder worked at SAP in the Office of the CEO as a part of the Corporate Strategy Group. Working with the management board and other executives, Narinder led initiatives on sales, maintenance and competitive strategies, as well as potential business and technology disruptions.

Prior to SAP, Narinder managed R&D, sales and marketing activity as vice president and general manager of webMethods (WEBM) workflow business unit. He also previously led R&D for the company’s BPM, workflow, B2B and industry products. Narinder began his career with Accenture at its Center for Strategic Technology.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Wharton School. Narinder also has worked with several non–profits on their development and supports a number of causes including Architecture for Humanity, Worldvision, and Ensaaf. He is the executive sponsor of Appirio's Silver Lining program and serves on the board of the Sikh Coalition.

Chief Financial Officer—Mark O’Connor

Mark O’ConnorAs chief financial officer, Mark is responsible for overseeing all financial operations for the company. He brings more than 20 years of finance experience from a variety of high growth technology companies.

Mark joined Appirio from Nuance Communications where he held various positions, such as vice president of operations and chief of staff, and vice president of finance and operations for the enterprise division. Prior to Nuance, Mark served as CFO at BeVocal (acquired by Nuance), a leading provider of customer service voice response systems, CFO of Appshop (acquired by US Internetworking), a hosted ERP and CRM provider, and CFO of Broadword Communications, a pioneer in cloud based unified communications. Mark also brings extensive finance experience from International Network Services, where he was part of the hybrid products and services business when it grew from a less than a few hundred employees to more than 2,000 in less than three years.

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

 

Chief Information Officer—Glenn Weinstein

Glenn WeinsteinGlenn Weinstein is responsible for driving the technology vision for Appirio and building out the world-class systems and processes necessary to support Appirio's rapid growth—all without owning a single server. As an Appirio co-founder, Glenn played a critical role in establishing the company's consulting services practice, and was responsible for establishing The Appirio Way delivery methodology, as well as the Centers of Excellence (CoE) program.

Prior to Appirio, Glenn ran large consulting and technical support functions at enterprise software companies, most recently as vice president for worldwide technical support and services at Borland Software Corporation, and previously as vice president for global customer support for webMethods. Glenn’s other past roles include technical consulting and project management positions at Artesia Technologies and Lockheed Martin, where he was a certified object oriented analysis & design (OOAD) course instructor.

Glenn’s professional career began with 8 years of service as a naval flight officer in the U.S. Navy, qualifying as a mission commander in the P–3C Orion anti–submarine and surveillance aircraft. Glenn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Master of Science degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Chief Business Innovation Officer—Jason Averbook

Jason AverbookAs Chief Business Innovation Officer, Jason Averbook leads Appirio’s human capital management business. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the HR and technology industry, Jason works closely with customers to creatively drive business outcomes.

Jason was formerly the CEO and co-founder Knowledge Infusion, which was acquired by Appirio in 2012. While at Knowledge Infusion, Jason was responsible for the vision and strategy that propelled the company to be the recognized leader in HR consulting.

Prior to Knowledge Infusion, Jason held senior management positions at PeopleSoft and Ceridian, where he built strong relationships with customers and strove to provide unrivaled service to HR organizations around the world.

Jason is deeply involved in the global HR community and speaks frequently at industry conferences, including HR Technology, IHRIM and major enterprise software vendor conferences. He also frequently contributes to publications that include Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, Talent Management Magazine, HR Executive and Workforce Management. A native of Minnesota, Jason holds a bachelor’s degree and M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

 

SVP, General Counsel—Dan Lascell

Dan LascellDan Lascell is responsible for Appirio's worldwide corporate development and legal operations, and plays a key role in Appirio's M&A strategy and the protection of the company's Intellectual Property. He brings to Appirio more than 15 years of experience in M&A, intellectual property, open source, licensing, and the other legal and corp dev aspects of running a successful technology company and serves as Appirio’s General Counsel. Prior to Appirio, Dan was GC of AmberPoint, Inc., where he managed all legal functions for that SOA software company—from its venture capital investments as the company was growing through and including its sale to Oracle in early 2010. Before joining AmberPoint, he served as in-house counsel at Corning, Inc., and was VP of legal services at webMethods, Inc. Prior to moving in–house, he practiced at several law firms, including Gray, Cary (now DLA Piper) and Hunton & Williams.

Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from Hamilton College, for which he currently serves as class President and a member of its Alumni Council, and a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School. Dan supports several organizations related to animal rights, including the North Carolina Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

 

SVP, Global Services—Mike Epner

Mike EpnerMike is responsible for Appirio's global delivery organization, including the company's expansion into Europe and Asia. He oversees the people and processes that ensure all Appirio's customers are successful in their move to the cloud. Prior to this role, Mike led Appirio’s sales organization and built a team that has assisted with some of Google and salesforce.com’s largest implementations. Mike has more than 20 years of leadership experience in application development, IT and executive management and brings extensive management consulting experience to Appirio’s global client base.

Before joining Appirio, Mike was vice president of worldwide services at CollabNet, a provider of on–demand services to distributed application development organizations, helping them operate collaboratively to deliver systems and software. Prior to this he was vice president of worldwide services for Borland Software Corporation, a provider of application lifecycle management solutions. Mike managed Borland’s $120M consulting services, education services and technical support business, roughly 48% of Borland’s total revenues. In this role, Mike helped double Borland’s consulting services revenues providing executive sales support to close multiple seven figure engagements.

Mike joined Borland as part of its acquisition of TeraQuest Metrics, Inc., where he was CEO. He led TeraQuest’s 4–year alliance with Gartner, Inc., helping CIOs and VPs benchmark their performance against peer groups and implement strategic improvement initiatives. He has also worked in leadership roles, both as an employee and senior consultant, at Eastman Kodak, NEC, General Motors and EDS.

 

SVP, Americas Services—Mike O’Brien

Mike OBrienMike O'Brien is a co-founder of Appirio and oversees many of the processes and functions critical to overall customer success—including pre-sales, project management, client engagement services, and Appirio’s Community Delivery Model process. Mike brings over 15 years of experience leading large enterprise software deployments that involve complex business requirements for global businesses. Before joining Appirio, Mike served as Borland Software's vice president of professional services for the Americas, where he led the global roll-out of enterprise development tools at EDS. Prior to that, he was vice president for professional services at webMethods, where he oversaw the North American consulting team on global implementations at government agencies and commercial enterprises such as Bank of America, Eastman Chemical and Dell. Previously, Mike was a senior consultant and project manager at WaveFront Consulting.

Mike started his career with five years of service as a U.S. Nuclear Submarine Officer, where he was certified as a naval nuclear engineer and supervised all ship-wide and nuclear power plant operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy.

 

SVP, Sales—Chris Heineken

Chris HeinekenIn his role as SVP of Sales, Chris leads Appirio's global sales efforts, working closely with Appirio's strategic partners Salesforce.com, Workday and Google. Chris brings more than 15 years of sales, professional services and marketing experience across solution areas that include CRM, business intelligence, enterprise integration and custom application development.

Before joining Appirio, Chris was the co–founder and VP of Sales and Marketing for Bay Street Solutions, a business consulting and implementation company focused on deploying CRM solutions to technology, consumer goods and life sciences companies. Perficient (NASQ: PRFT) acquired Bay Street Solutions in 2006 and Chris continued to manage sales and marketing responsibilities for Perficient’s Oracle practice, playing a key role in Perficient becoming recognized as the leading CRM partner in North America.

Chris started his career at Accenture in the Bay Area. He was one of the first members of Accenture’s Siebel practice and helped deploy Siebel technology across a range of industry verticals and process areas. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of California Davis and an MBA from University of California Berkeley.

 

SVP, HR—Jennifer Taylor

Jennifer TaylorJennifer Taylor is senior vice president of human resources at Appirio. She is responsible for the company's global recruiting, employee development and benefits programs. Prior to this role, Jennifer was the vice president of Appirio's Workday cloud services practice and is responsible for spearheading and growing Appirio's strategic partnership with Workday. Earlier, Jennifer was vice president of HR for Appirio where she played an integral part in growing Appirio's team both domestically and internationally, and led the organization to review and select Workday HCM and Financials for Appirio.

Prior to joining Appirio, Jennifer was director of HR at Borland Software where she supported worldwide field operations and marketing—a 600 person organization that spanned North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. In this role, she took the lead for rolling out Borland's company-wide on-demand performance management system from Success Factors where she quickly gained an appreciation for the cost and user benefits of SaaS and cloud computing. Prior to this, Jennifer held human resources positions at BMC Software, where she was business partner to the worldwide services team, and GMAC Global Relocation Services.

Jennifer is a graduate from the University of Phoenix, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She established and continues to play an integral role in Appirio’s Silver Lining community service and philanthropy program.

 

GM, Europe—Lori Williams

Lori WilliamsLori Williams is General Manager of Appirio’s European operations, and oversees team development, sales, marketing and customer support in that region. She brings more than 24 years of enterprise IT experience, and a strong track record of building and managing high growth and international teams. Lori has been with the company since 2009, where she was brought on to manage Appirio’s customer support team and cloud management offerings. She moved over as vice president of the U.S. consulting team in July 2010 and has since grown that organization more than 150 percent.

Prior to joining Appirio, Lori was the vice president of customer delivery at data protection company Credant Technologies, where she led the organization to worldwide customer growth of more than 500 percent. Prior to Credant, Lori was the vice president of mobility solutions and services at JP Mobile, providing leadership in product road map and operational development across the organization. She also spent more than 10 years in various international leadership services and product roles at IBM and Lotus Development.

Lori is a graduate of Baylor University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in finance, international business and information systems.

 

VP, Japan—Jun Fujita

Jun FujitaIn his role of vice president of Appirio's operations in Japan, Jun Fujita oversees team development, sales, marketing and customer support in that region. Drawing on more than 12 years of experience in the IT industry, Jun brings a strong background in building high performing international sales and consulting teams. Jun has been with Appirio since early 2012, where he was brought on to manage sales for Appirio’s operations in Japan.

Prior to Appiro, Jun led the enterprise services sales group at Microsoft Japan, where he was responsible for service selling to strategic accounts as a Principal Service Executive. Prior to the sales role he acted several roles for the enterprise sales group of Microsoft Japan such as strategic planning and marketing.

Jun has previously held senior consulting roles with both Hitachi Consulting and ABeam Consulting, where he delivered business services for the company's largest accounts. Jun is a graduate of both Seijo University in Tokyo, Japan, and the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in computer science.

 

VP, Channels and Alliances—Gary Rinedollar

Gary RinedollarGary is responsible for developing and implementing Appirio’s worldwide alliances, channel strategies and programs. He brings to Appirio more than fifteen years of enterprise software sales management, business development and marketing experience.

Prior to Appirio, Gary was vice president of channels at Oracle through the acquisition of AmberPoint in 2010. At AmberPoint, Gary was the vice president of business development and Asia Pacific sales where he developed the partner strategy and ecosystem of strategic platform companies such as BEA/Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, SAP and Tibco. Prior to AmberPoint he was a director of sales for the Software Tools Division at Sun Microsystems selling into the telecommunications vertical. Gary developed the channel sales organization at Forte Software which was acquired by Sun Microsystems. He also held various sales and technical roles at Hewlett Packard and Texas Instruments.

Gary holds B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Math from the University of Illinois.

Brett B. Rochkind, General Atlantic

Brett B. Rochkind is a Managing Director at General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm, where he has worked since 2002. Mr. Rochkind is the Head of General Atlantic’s Palo Alto office and is the co–head of the firm’s global Internet & Technology sector. Mr. Rochkind recently returned from GA’s Hong Kong office, where he focused on opportunities in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific region including the firm’s investments in Alibaba Group, Renren, Soufun and Lenovo. Mr. Rochkind has worked closely with many of GA’s portfolio companies in the software, information, services and Internet & Technology sectors including Appirio, IHS, SSA Global and Altair Engineering in the United States, Grupo Linx and MercadoLibre in Brazil and Latin America, and PowerDsine in Israel.

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Rochkind was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. in their Mergers & Acquisitions department in New York and Menlo Park, and helped to establish Morgan Stanley’s Israel office based in Tel Aviv.

Mr. Rochkind graduated magna cum laude and as a University Scholar from the Stern School of Business at New York University and earned his M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

 

Gary Reiner, General Atlantic

Gary Reiner is an Operating Partner for General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm. In this role, Mr. Reiner supports GA’s active value-added approach to partnering with growth companies by providing strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies.

Mr. Reiner previously served as senior vice president and Chief Information Officer of GE, where he led M&A, Sourcing, IT, Operations and Quality for the company. Prior to that, he was a partner with Boston Consulting Group, where he drove strategies and operations improvements for high–technology businesses.

Mr. Reiner earned a BA in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 

Jim Goetz, Sequoia Capital

Jim Goetz is a Partner at Sequoia Capital focusing on enterprise systems, mobile software and enterprise and consumer technology enabled services investments. Jim currently serves on the board of Admob, ClearwellSystems, Dash Navigation, Data Connection, Jive Software, Palo Alto Networks and Widgetbox.

Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2004, Jim served as a General Partner at Accel Partner where he led the investments in Entrisphere (ERIC), Peribit (JNPR), RGB, and Rhapsody (BRCD) and was part of the team responsible for BroadJump (MOTV), Timetra (ALA) and Topspin (CSCO). Earlier, Jim was a Founder of VitalSigns (LU) where he went on to serve as VP/GM of the VitalSoft division of Lucent. Prior to VitalSigns, Jim was the Vice President of Network Management for Bay Networks. Prior to Bay and Synoptics, he held various product and marketing positions at AT&T, AT&T Bell Labs, and Digital Equipment.

Jim has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

 

Jeff Richards, GGV Capital

Jeff Richards is a partner at GGV Capital, a $1.6B venture capital fund focused on the US and China. In addition to leading GGV’s investment in Appirio, Jeff sits on the Board of Buddy Media, BlueKai, Citrus Lane and Evolv OnDemand, and is involved with GGV’s investments in HiSoft, Meilishuo, Qunar, 21ViaNet and Square.

Prior to GGV, Jeff was the Vice President of Digital Content Services at VeriSign, where he oversaw the company’s efforts in the Broadband Content space. Prior to VeriSign, Jeff was a co–founder and CEO of R4GS, a software and services provider acquired by VeriSign. Earlier in his career, Jeff was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led technology, banking and consumer products engagements in the US and Asia.

Jeff graduated from Dartmouth College, sits on the Board of the First Tee Tri Valley, and is active with several other Bay Area nonprofits.

 

Matt Thompson, Adobe

Matt Thompson is a senior vice president of worldwide field operations at Adobe, leading their efforts to capitalize on long–term growth opportunities and align the company’s sales and support organizations with key customer segments. In this role he is responsible for the strategy and direction of Adobe’s sales operations across the company’s diverse product lines and all customer–facing functions, including field marketing, go–to–market partners, e–commerce, customer care and Adobe Consulting. Previously, Thompson spent three years at Borland, where he served as senior vice president of worldwide field operations and oversaw a global team across 23 countries.

Prior to Borland, Thompson was senior vice president of worldwide sales at Marimba, Inc. and Cadence Design Systems, Inc. He has also held senior executive sales positions at Calico Commerce (acquired by PeopleSoft) and Electronic Data Systems. Thompson also serves on the Special Olympics Northern California board. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Northern Illinois University.
