CEO - Chris Barbin
Chris brings extensive operations, consulting, professional and technical services experience to Appirio. Previously he served as senior vice president of business operations and CIO at Borland Software Corporation, where he pioneered a move to an on-demand IT applications architecture, centered on the company's successful global rollouts of Salesforce.com, SuccessFactors, QuickArrow and other on-demand applications.
Chris also served at Borland as senior vice president of worldwide services, including consulting, education, and technical support. His teams delivered application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions to strategic accounts such as EDS, Kaiser Permanente, and British Telecom.
Prior to Borland, Chris was SVP of Global Customer Services at webMethods, responsible for all consulting, technical support, and training. Chris managed a global team delivering services to over 1,000 customers running mission-critical integration applications. Chris developed deep relationships with partners such as Deloitte Consulting, EDS, Accenture, Tata Consulting Services,and Satyam.
Chris was also managing director of W.W. Grainger's Consulting Services division, an early pioneer in e-commerce, where he helped accelerate customer adoption of Grainger.com through relationships and integrations with Ariba, Commerce One, and mySAP.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bates College in Lewiston, ME and also studied at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England.
Marketing and Technology- Narinder Singh
Narinder Singh brings nearly 15 years of experience on the cutting edge of software and business innovation. Prior to Appirio, Narinder worked at SAP in the Office of the CEO as a part of the Corporate Strategy Group. Working with the management board and other executives, Narinder led initiatives on sales, maintenance and competitive strategies, as well as potential business and technology disruptions, including software on demand.
Prior to SAP, Narinder managed development and sales and marketing activity as vice president and general manager of webMethods (WEBM) workflow business unit. Narinder led the internal development of the company's business process management (BPM) capabilities, and the integration of a workflow acquisition to launch the business unit. Narinder joined webMethods in 1998 as one of its first forty employees, and subsequently founded webMethods' Trading Networks product, the basis for the company's B2B, EDI and industry products. Narinder began at webMethods by leading engagements at pioneering customers such as Eastman Chemical, Grainger, Oracle, Ariba and SAP.
Narinder began his career with Accenture at its Center for Strategic Technology working on leading edge initiatives for Fortune 500 companies. He pioneered early efforts to internet-enable business applications(SAP and Peoplesoft) at companies such as Motorola, Bell Atlantic and Autodesk.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Solution Delivery - Glenn Weinstein
Glenn Weinstein is responsible for Appirio's delivery of customer services. He has run large consulting and technical support teams at enterprise software companies, most recently as vice president for worldwide technical support and services at Borland Software Corporation, with responsibility for all maintenance revenue, as well as 24x7 global support operations for over 5,000 customers.
Weinstein also was vice president of worldwide support for webMethods, responsible for supporting mission-critical operations of customers including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Motorola, and Disney.
Glenn's other past roles have included technical consulting and project management engagements for Artesia Technologies and Lockheed Martin's Integrated Business Solutions group. At Artesia, Glenn was instrumental in digital asset management (DAM) implementations at BMG Music and Time Warner. At Lockheed Martin, Glenn was design and development team lead at GEICO Car Insurance for an enterprise wide project to overhaul their mainframe-based claims processing system into a 3-tier application, as well as serving as a certified object oriented analysis & design (OOAD) course instructor.
Glenn's professional career began with 8 years' service as a naval flight officer in the U.S. Navy, qualifying as a Mission Commander and Tactical Coordinator for the P-3C Orion anti-submarine and surveillance aircraft. Glenn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Masters Degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Operations - Michael O'Brien
Mike O'Brien is responsible for all operations at Appirio and plays a leading role in Appirio's Google Enterprise practice, which helps to accelerate the adoption of Google Apps at medium and large enterprises. He brings over 15 years of experience leading large enterprise software deployments that involve complex business requirements for global businesses.
Having focused much of his career delivering professional services for traditional software companies, Mike has a deep understanding of the challenges that come along with supporting on-premise solutions and the promise that on-demand offers.
Before joining Appirio, Mike served as Borland Software's vice president of professional services for the Americas, where he led the global deployment of a 20,000 seat implementation at EDS. Prior to that, he was vice president for professional services at webMethods, where he oversaw a team of 50 consultants working on global implementations at government agencies and commercial enterprises such as Bank of America, Eastman Chemical and Dell. This experience included early exposure to the advantages of Software as a Service (SaaS).
Previously, Mike was a senior consultant at WaveFront Consulting. He started his career as a certified U.S. Navy engineer, directing ship and reactor plant operations and training on a nuclear-powered submarine.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Sales and Client Management - Michael Epner
Mike Epner has over 20 years of leadership experience in application development, IT and executive management. As head of sales and client management, Mike supports customers implementing on-demand services such as Salesforce.com and Google enterprise solutions. Prior to Appirio, Mike was vice president of worldwide services at CollabNet, a leading provider of on-demand services to distributed application development organizations, helping them operate collaboratively to deliver systems and software.
Mike was also vice president of worldwide services for Borland Software Corporation, a leading provider of application lifecycle management solutions. Mike managed Borland’s $120M consulting services, education services and technical support business, roughly 48% of Borland’s total revenues. Borland was an early adopter of Salesforce.com’s Service and Support as well as Customer Portal applications. He presented at Dreamforce ’07 on the dramatic improvement in both customer satisfaction and cost performance, including a 1-year ROI period. Mike also helped double Borland’s consulting services revenues providing executive sales support to close multiple seven figure engagements.
Mike joined Borland as part of its acquisition of TeraQuest Metrics, Inc., where he was CEO. He led TeraQuest’s 4-year alliance with Gartner, Inc., helping CIOs and VPs benchmark their performance against peer groups and implement strategic improvement initiatives. Mike provided frequent support to Gartner account executives calling on IT executives to identify, position and close opportunities.
Mike has also worked in leadership roles, both as an employee and senior consultant, at Eastman Kodak, NEC, General Motors and EDS.
Product Management and Marketing - Ryan Nichols
Ryan Nichols runs product management and marketing for Appirio, and has driven the launch of Appirio's initial portfolio of products. He has over 10 years of experience bringing together business strategy and technology in the enterprise. Ryan joined Appirio from SAP's corporate strategy group, in the office of the CEO, where he led projects to define and execute SAP's product, platform, and M&A strategy.
Previously, Ryan's background spans consulting and business software. He was a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, serving over 15 leading financial services and technology clients. He led professional services for an analytics software startup, delivering inventory and pricing analytics software and services to retail and CPG clients. He was trained in product management at Intuit, where he focused on new user acquisition for QuickBooks.
Ryan holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Williams College, and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Chief Architect - Jason Ouellette
Jason has been inventing cutting-edge commercial software for large enterprises for the past 12 years. He recently served as a director of R&D for application products at Composite Software. There he led the development of data services for Siebel, SAP and salesforce.com, resulting in OEM relationships with Cognos and Informatica.
Prior to Composite, Jason held senior engineering and architecture positions with Informance, a manufacturing intelligence solution provider, and webMethods, a leader in integration and service-oriented architecture software. At webMethods, Jason was the third employee and invented numerous technologies that made the company the leading provider of B2B infrastructure. He helped architect the industry's first XML-based B2B server, then invented and led the development of the first B2B application for securely managing the exchange and processing of most common business document formats, such as XML and EDI, among trading partners over the Internet.
In total, Jason has led the development of over a dozen major enterprise products that are currently deployed in mission-critical production applications at thousands of enterprise accounts.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon in Information and Decision Systems and Computer Science.

Jim Goetz, Sequoia Capital
Jim Goetz is a Partner at Sequoia Capital focusing on enterprise systems, mobile software and enterprise and consumer technology enabled services investments. Jim currently serves on the board of Admob, ClearwellSystems, Dash Navigation, Data Connection, Jive Software, Palo Alto Networks and Widgetbox. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2004, Jim served as a General Partner at Accel Partner where he led the investments in Entrisphere (ERIC), Peribit (JNPR), RGB, and Rhapsody (BRCD) and was part of the team responsible for BroadJump (MOTV), Timetra (ALA) and Topspin (CSCO). Earlier, Jim was a Founder of VitalSigns (LU) where he went on to serve as VP/GM of the VitalSoft division of Lucent. Prior to VitalSigns, Jim was the Vice President of Network Management for Bay Networks. Prior to Bay and Synoptics, he held various product and marketing positions at AT&T, AT&T Bell Labs, and Digital Equipment. Jim has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Tim Stevens, CEO Doppelganger
Tim is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the Internet, advertising, content, discovery, intellectual property and software industries. He has served as a senior executive officer, board member and strategic advisor at a number of private and public companies, including Inktomi Corporation, Borland Software Corporation, Fios, Inc., Bazaar Advertising Solutions, Tumri, Inc. and 3VR, Inc. Stevens holds BS degrees in both Finance and Management from the University of Oregon, and a JD degree from the University of California, Davis.
